From Algorithms to Art – The First AI Art Exhibition Successfully Concluded

November 17
20:14 2022

The world’s first digital art exhibition created entirely by artificial intelligence and artists closed on November 1, 2022, in Shenzhen, China. As a highly anticipated event combining art and technology, the exhibition drew in many spectators and inspired numerous interesting conversations.

The exhibition includes 30 works from several digital artists, including Libertas, who has been featured on the NFT digital trading market OpenSea this year. The artist offers 10 works in three series from Spectrum, SpaceWar and Eternity.

Libertas is a digital artist who comes from the meta-universe. She is always exploring what humans can do art-wise. This includes things like creative inspiration, methods of creation, and communication media. Libertas wants to find new possibilities for human art forms and break any boundaries that might be limiting creativity. Her methods involve using code or machine vision to expand Human perception beyond its current limits. She believes that artistic expression should not only exist in well-known Forms but rather be accessible to everyone.

In 2022, Libertas launched LibertasART, an online art platform, and became the first artist in the field to use the Diffusion Algorithm to create Spectrum series of works, showing spectral art from a machine perspective. In doing so, she acts as a trailblazer for those who wish to explore and express their creativity through new digital mediums. Additionally that year, she introduced a new digital art algorithm which resulted in the creation of two brand new exciting series, SpaceWar and Eternity.

The exhibition also features the works of other artists in this field, which have different styles and represent different forms of art after artificial intelligence is combined with human intelligence.

Even though artificial intelligence is sometimes limited by its inability to create something new from scratch, it can still extract key points and generate possibilities that were previously inconceivable. This was noted by none other than Boris Dayma, the founder of Craiyon enterprises and a leading expert in AI-generated art. As he said: “What’s impressive to me is not just that AI can understand existing images, but that it can also create entirely new things.”

The controversy surrounding artificial intelligence art brewed after one of AI’s paintings topped the “Digital Art/Digital Photography Award” track at a Colorado fair. Some argue that what AI creates cannot be classified as art because it lacks human creativity. Others contend that while AI generates work, humans are still necessary to screen, extract and adjust the pieces for improvement purposes.

Despite the many controversies surrounding artificial intelligence art, there is no doubt that this will be an important area of development for AI in the future. This first-ever personal AI art exhibition showcases how “creation” by artificial intelligence is gradually being accepted by the public, and more people are beginning to use AI to express their own colorful inner worlds.

The exhibition featured several works that were subscribed to at a price of thousands of RMB, marking the beginning of recognition by collectors for AI art. At the closing ceremony, curator Ms. Minmin Zeng’s summary and outlook on the future field of artificial intelligence and art combination left everyone looking forward to what is yet to come.
